Taichong (LV3): The Liver Source Point for Calming Qi and Relieving Stress

Taichong (太冲, LV3) is a key acupoint on the Liver Meridian of Foot Jueyin. As the Yuan-Source point, it plays a vital role in regulating Liver Qi, calming the mind, and relieving a wide range of symptoms from headaches to menstrual disorders.

On the dorsum of the foot, in the depression distal to the junction of the first and second metatarsal bones.

Perpendicular insertion 0.5–0.8 cun. Moxibustion is also applicable.

Taichong is the Shu-Stream point and the Yuan-Source point of the Liver Meridian. It is widely used to pacify the Liver, subdue Yang, and regulate Qi and Blood.
