Wellness education, not medical advice

QiLife assessments are for wellness education and self-knowledge only. They are not a medical diagnosis and cannot replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. If you have persistent or worsening symptoms, please see a physician.

What this means in practice

  • No result on this site is a diagnosis, in either traditional Chinese medicine or modern medical terms.
  • No result can detect, rule out or monitor a disease.
  • Nothing here is a treatment plan. Dietary, acupressure and lifestyle suggestions are general education.
  • Scores are produced by a self-report questionnaire and a published scoring model. They are not laboratory measurements.

Before you act on anything here

  • Pregnancy. Do not use acupressure on LI4 (Hegu) or SP6 (Sanyinjiao), and avoid moxibustion, without professional guidance. Both are traditionally used to encourage labour.
  • Medication. Several herbs and foods in our library interact with common drugs — licorice with blood-pressure medication, hawthorn and safflower with anticoagulants, astragalus with immunosuppressants. Check with a pharmacist or physician before using them.
  • Diagnosed conditions. If you manage diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, a bleeding disorder or an autoimmune condition, treat everything here as background reading and act on professional advice instead.
  • Severe symptoms. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden severe pain, blood in stool or urine, unexplained weight loss, or a new lump are reasons to seek medical care immediately — not to take a quiz.

About traditional Chinese medicine

TCM is a traditional system of health practice with a long history and a growing evidence base in some areas, particularly for certain pain and digestive conditions. It is not a substitute for emergency care, vaccination, surgery or antibiotics where those are indicated. We present it as a lens for understanding your own patterns, alongside rather than instead of conventional medicine.

Accuracy and limits

We try to keep the item sets, weights and reference content accurate and clearly versioned. We cannot guarantee that every suggestion suits every reader, and cultural and individual variation in how symptoms are experienced and reported is real. Use your judgement, and use a clinician's judgement more.

No liability

QiLife and its authors accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of these assessments or the reference library. By using the site you accept that you are responsible for your own health decisions.
