To keep your feet beautiful and healthy, a little extra care goes a long way. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the feet are considered the foundation of the body, connecting to vital organs and meridians. Here are some essential TCM-inspired tips for foot care.

Regularly trim your toenails to prevent ingrown nails and maintain hygiene. Wash your feet daily and keep them dry. For sweaty feet, apply cornstarch to absorb moisture. If your feet are prone to dryness, apply petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to keep the skin soft and lubricated.

After a long day of walking or standing, massage your feet to release tension in the ligaments and relieve muscle fatigue. TCM massage techniques help promote blood circulation, smooth qi flow, and reduce stress.

A traditional TCM practice for foot health is the alternating hot and cold foot bath. Use hot water at 36–50°C (97–122°F) and cold water at 14–18°C (57–64°F). Soak your feet in hot water for 5–8 minutes, then transfer to cold water for 30 seconds. Repeat this cycle four times, always starting with hot water. This method invigorates blood circulation, strengthens the immune system, and refreshes tired feet.
