Published 2026-06-07 · 253 words · TCM & Functional Medicine
Diabetic foot complications can be challenging, but traditional Chinese medicine offers effective external therapies to support circulation and nerve function. This herbal foot bath formula, derived from classical TCM principles, is designed to promote blood flow, reduce swelling, and unblock collaterals in the feet.
Add all herbs except Bohe to 2000 ml of water. Boil for 30 minutes. Add Bohe in the last 5 minutes. Strain the decoction into a foot basin. First fumigate the feet with the steam, then soak when the temperature is comfortable. Use one dose per day, soaking twice (morning and evening).
This formula is suitable for early-stage diabetic foot without ulceration, or for healed ulcers. It is also beneficial for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, helping to alleviate numbness, tingling, and cold sensations in the feet.
The herbs work synergistically to invigorate blood, resolve stasis, unblock collaterals, and reduce swelling. External application allows the medicinal properties to penetrate directly into the affected area, improving local circulation and nerve function.
Note: Always consult a qualified TCM practitioner before using this formula, especially if you have open wounds or severe diabetes.
